The Ann Arbor Summer Festival is an annual display of performing arts, outdoor entertainment and community spirit. Each year, the three-week event offers dozens of performances, events, activities, exhibitions, and parties, with eclectic music, dance, theater, film, visual arts and family fun.

The Ann Arbor Summer Festival presented its first full season 25 years ago. The Festival was created to support two concurrent and complementary performing arts programs, one indoor and one outdoor, on the University of Michigan campus. The Mainstage series occurs in the Power Center for the Performing Arts and Hill Auditorium, and includes ticketed performances of music, dance, theater and comedy that are national and international in scope. The second series, Top of the Park, takes place outside on Ingalls Mall in front of the University of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School. Top of the Park is free and offers live bands throughout the festival and movies on weeknights.

The Festival attempts to bring the community together in a significant way. It has partnerships with the City of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. Local businesses and establishments, from the vendors on the Top of the Park's Culinary Row, to the contributing sponsors of both Mainstage and Top of the Park, indicate community support of the event.

The 26th season will run June 12-July 5, 2009. The new season artist and movie line-up, scheduled workshops and activities, and special events will be posted online in April.
