Broadway Park
From ArborWiki
Broadway Park is a three-acre meadow on the south bank of the Huron River, in Ann Arbor's Lower Town. It is bounded by the river, the Michigan Central Railroad, and the Broadway Bridges. Across the Huron lie Riverside Park (Ann Arbor) and the remnant of an old millrun from Ann Arbor's industrial era.
Early in the twentieth century, the deserted piece of land earned the nickname "Hobo" Park because of its users: out-of-work men who rode the rails and slept in the park.
The Broadway Park Redesign Project, a partnership between the University of Michigan Arts of Citizenship Program and the Ann Arbor Department of Parks and Recreation, has a guide to the park and its surrounding area: http://www.artsofcitizenship.umich.edu/broadway .
