Broadway Village is a proposed development in Lower Town. It is a private development, but the city is involved as a potential provider of Tax Increment Financing (TIF).

(A lot of handwaving and nine years of work on the project go here.)

Broadway Village held a formal groundbreaking on 10 January 2008 with Governor Jennifer Granholm in attendance. "I think this project is right in the sweet spot of what we should be doing," Granholm reportedly said.
