Students for a Democratic Society
From ArborWiki
Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) held its first meeting in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1960. Its first President was Alan Haber, and its first impress on the political landscape was the Port Huron Statement of 1962, drafted principally by Tom Hayden, a former editor of Michigan Daily.
Considerable archives of this group are found in the Labadie Collection at the U of Michigan libraries.
Another organization with the same name formed in 2006.
